The Four Cardinal Virtues: Prudence

One of a series of panels painted by Brother Ryan Flynn which was commissioned for a Lodge in New Jersey, Prudence depicts one of the Four Cardinal virtues which is prevalent in Masonic Ritual.

Prudence is depicted wearing white, gold, and violet, colors symbolizing purity and wisdom, and honor. She sits looking at herself in a mirror, carefully understanding who she truly is. Masons are charged to know and understand themselves and discover their true perfect ashlar hidden beneath the superfluous aspects of their false self.
